The Variations of Chiropractic Care

Relief

When treating acute pain and discomfort with patients who are experiencing a lot of pain, chiropractic care for relief is generally applied. On the regions and the number of problems that need to be corrected and adjusted, the frequency of visits may be determined by the level of damage done. This approach helps patients experience a new sense of relief.

Correction

This technique is useful for patients with spinal problems that have developed over a prolonged span of time without proper treatment. Many of these patients have resorted to a variety of treatments in the past, such as surgery, medications and the like, without favorable results. Problems and misalignments in the spine and joints cannot be treated successfully using other means and methods.

Maintenance

Intended to help patients maintain optimum level of health or to help enhance the healing process. Chiropractic care may have already healed the spine or joints. However, when the spine becomes injured, it gets weak, requiring additional maintenance visits. Depending on the problem, patients may go to the chiropractor once every 2 to 6 weeks. This type of care involves the entire body. Through the proper flow of energy to the different areas of the body, the treatment provided will focus on improving system performance.

Different Types of Chiropractors

To relieve symptoms present among patients, such as headaches, nausea, neck and back pains, symptom relief chiropractor is the first type of practitioner to see. It is necessary to free fixations, reduce discomfort and pain, and decompress joints with manipulations.

Treatments such as electro stimulation, diathermy, laser acupuncture and tens units may also be incorporated by the practitioner. In order to expand level of treatment in the future, practitioners may add drugs to the treatment. Depending on the patient's response to treatment determines the length of treatment. Recurrence of treatments minimize over time.

The traditional chiropractor which focuses on the traditional philosophy of subluxation is the second type of professional. Structural correction of the spine is called subluxation. Interference with nerve impulses is minimized as the spine is aligned. In order to get rid of the nerve interference, or subluxation, by adjusting the spine to the best and most stable position biomechanical is the traditional practitioners' primary goal.

Programs involving spinal exercises coupled with treatments are used to help stabilize the position.

Diagnostics

Determining which type of chiropractic approach will best suit your needs and condition will require a diagnostic test. Many patients may have to undergo more than one type of treatment to fully recover.
