Why Am I Always Hungry? 3 Reasons Why!

Why am I always hungry? This is a question that can have lots of causes, some of them medical and some of them lifestyle related. It may be necessary for you to talk through with your doctor before you can get to the route of the problem. Here are 3 of the most common causes of always needing something else to eat.


High energy output
If your job or general lifestyle is very physical, then you need to ensure that your body has enough fuel (i.e. food) to keep it functioning properly. If you have recently changed your exercise habits, maybe you are going to the gym 5 times a week rather than 3, then your body will require more food to keep up with the increased energy demands.


Thyroid problems.
Your body's metabolism is regulated by the thyroid gland, and the level of thyroid hormones should rise and fall related to the amount of energy your body requires. But if there is a problem with you thyroid, this can then have an effect on your energy levels and metabolism and be a reason for why you are always hungry. Thyroid problems can be diagnosed and treated by your doctor.


The actual food you eat
Certain foods, especially convenience foods, can be high in sugar or processed flour which causes the levels of your blood sugar rise very rapidly. This then creates large peaks and troughs of your blood sugar levels which will cause you to feel very hungry again not long after you have eaten. Eating a balanced diet with plenty of slow release carbohydrates will help to combat this problem.


These are by no means the only reasons, and if this problem goes on for an excessive amount of time you will need to seek medical advice. Only then will you be able to find out the reason why you are always hungry.
